Time for another update on thing2’s journey to pay off his debt. Thanks to the hard labor projects and household chores, he’s managed to bring his balance down to about $2,700. However, houseboy has decided he’d rather keep his cash moving forward and won’t be paying thing2 for his chores anymore. Fair enough—houseboy’s money, houseboy’s choice.

With that option gone, thing2 is now turning to another solution: selling his personal belongings. He’s decided to part with some of his comic books, as well as a few of his toys. Remind you he is a full grown man, but thing2 enjoys collecting toys, he calls them “collectibles.” It’s a tough pill for him to swallow, but it’s a valuable lesson in responsibility and the cost of poor decisions.

Today, thing1 is taking him to a shop to see what kind of offers they can get for his items. Hopefully, it’ll make a dent in the remaining balance. I’ll continue to keep you all updated as this unfolds—watching him work through this has been as educational for him as it’s been entertaining for the rest of us!
