For Men’s Health Awareness Month, I’m turning my focus to walking. It’s simple, it’s effective, and honestly, it does wonders for both body and mind.
During the cold, wet months here in Portland (which is most of them), I usually stick to the treadmill. But now that the weather’s improving, it’s time to get outside and move.
Walking helps with fitness, sure, but for me it’s also about mental wellness. I call it my thinking time. Some of my best, most creative ideas come when I’m out on a quiet evening “noctambulate” session—yes, I walk at night and I love it.
So here’s my goal: by the end of June, I want to be walking at least 3 miles, four times a week. Let’s go.
Bro, you hit the nail on the head.
Just getting out for a good walk or a nice hike is already working on like ten different aspects of Men’s Health.
I’m in your corner, hermano. I just may hit those three’s with you.
An excellent goal Zeek. We’ll be holding you accountable.
I’m with you zeke. Even with my bad knee I have a “scenic route” from my house to the post office that covers 3 miles. I shoot for 3x weekly but 2x for sure. I notice something different in my neighborhood every time and meet new people also. I feel good about myself every time I do this walk.
