helping Madam get dressed is one of those quiet honors that never stops feeling special. it’s more than just an act of service, it’s ritual, intimacy, pride. each time is different, depending on where she’s going, but no matter what, duckie gets to play a small part in making her shine.

when Madam is heading to a business meeting, everything is sharp and intentional. i help her into a sleek dress or tailored suit, making sure there isn’t a wrinkle out of place. i double-check buttons, zippers, and lint. i polish her shoes, and if she’s wearing a blouse with delicate buttons at the cuff, it’s duckie who fastens them. i brush her hair smooth, touch up anything she asks, and choose a scent that’s crisp and confident. when she walks out that door, she looks like power personified, and i know i helped shape that.

if she’s going to dinner with friends, it’s more playful. she might let me suggest a dress or help pick out her jewelry. i lay out her options, help zip her up, and secure her necklace just right. i might curl her hair or pin it back depending on the mood, and i always make sure her lipstick is perfect. she checks herself in the mirror while i stand back and admire her like she’s art. because she is.

when she’s going on a date with her mister, that’s a different feeling. there’s a hum of something private and passionate in the air. i become very quiet, very focused. i draw her bath, lay out her lingerie, and help with each detail. body lotion, stockings, heels. i zip her dress slowly, smoothing it over her hips, and i style her hair just the way she likes. sometimes she teases me a little, just to see if i’ll blush (i do). when she leaves, i stay behind with a heart full of ache and pride.

formal events are when i go into full glam assistant mode. i steam gowns, press fabric, polish every bit of jewelry. i buff her nails to a shine, sometimes repaint them, do her makeup if she wishes, and always, always do her hair. whether it’s an updo or long curls, i take my time to make it perfect. sometimes i hold her earrings while she chooses, sometimes she has me clip them in myself. i double-check everything under the lights, adjust a strap, fix a hem. when she steps into a room, every head turns and i know duckie helped make that happen.

and the best part? that quiet little moment before she walks away. when she gives me a look, a nod, or just lets her hand linger on my cheek for a second. she doesn’t always say it, but i feel it. i did good.

i love knowing that behind her flawless look, there’s the work of my hands. from her toes to her crown, i’ve helped her shine. it’s service, yes, but it’s also art. and i get to be her canvas and her brush.
