I have already talked about Scrappydo, the poor, pathetic pup that thing2 brought sniffing around my house. He is useful, polite, and very easy on the eyes. The kind of boy that makes me want to break him in and make him mine, if only training someone new did not require so much time and attention.

Up until now, Scrappydo has been doing random jobs for us. He is strong, handy, and works fast without complaining. I had invited him for a formal interview some time ago because he has been very clear about wanting to join my boys in service. Unfortunately for him, he had already accepted a short-term gig that took him out of the city. He came back yesterday and immediately asked if the interview was still on the table.

We had it yesterday.

I will say this, he did well. I already knew he was useful around the house. I had already noticed his body and yes, his endowment, which is difficult not to notice. But during the interview, he showed me something else. Focus. Hunger. A willingness to please that goes beyond politeness. Let’s just say Mizz Geena had a very pleasant afternoon and left the meeting thoroughly satisfied.

Now comes the decision.

Could I use him? Absolutely.
Do I have room for him? Not really.
Can we afford to bring on another boy? According to my husband, definitely not.

So for now, I made a compromise that suits me perfectly.

Scrappydo is being brought on as a temporary sub. He will have room and board, and in exchange, he is my property for all intents and purposes while he is here. He will not be paid, so he must maintain some outside work, but when he is under my roof, he follows my rules. Fully.

If he proves himself and if our planned move to a larger home happens, then I will make the decision to bring him with us at that time. For now, he will sit at the same rank as houseboy. For sleeping arrangements, thing2 agreed to share his room. They can take turns on the floor. I am not convinced that is a sustainable long-term solution, since I doubt either of them can keep their hands to themselves, but we will see how it plays out.

And one more thing. My mother will be visiting for the holidays and staying in the guest room.

I am already considering how nicely Scrappydo might look wrapped up as a little present for her.
