Manscaped by the barber

by | Jun 9, 2026 | 2 comments

So I’ve been seeing this barber for a while now. He works out of his apartment, which sounds sketchier than it is. I met him through a friend, he does great work, his rates are ridiculously reasonable, and best of all, he has late-night availability that fits my schedule.

He’s also 420 friendly, which doesn’t hurt.

So I’m sitting there getting my haircut, we’re chatting, and the conversation somehow drifts into grooming. He asks me if I manscape.

I admitted that I usually do, but I’d let things slide for a few weeks. My electric trimmer died, I never got around to replacing it, and honestly I had been procrastinating. Annie had even complained about it a couple days earlier.

Apparently my barber saw an opportunity.

He tells me he’s starting to offer manscaping services. I laugh, assuming he’s kidding. He finishes my haircut, spins the chair around, and tells me to stand up.

The next thing I know, he’s explaining his process and telling me he’s going to take care of it.

“Free this time,” he says. “Ten-dollar add-on next visit.”

I just stood there for a second wondering how exactly my life had reached this point.

A few years ago, there is absolutely no chance I would have gone along with something like that. I would have been too embarrassed. Too self-conscious. Too worried about what somebody else thought.

But Annie has spent years pushing me out of my comfort zone. She has challenged me to be more comfortable with my body, more comfortable around people, and less hung up on being vulnerable.

So I shrugged and said okay. Next thing I knew I was naked from the waist down with this guy shaving me.

The whole thing was surprisingly professional. No awkwardness. No weird vibe. Just a guy providing a service and taking pride in doing a good job.

And honestly?

The results were fantastic.

I got home, showed Annie, and even she was impressed. Which is saying something because she was the one complaining in the first place.

So now I have the weirdest barber story of anyone I know.

I went in for a haircut and came home with a complete grooming package.

And the worst part?

I’ll probably pay the extra ten bucks next time. It looked that good. And so, so much easier than doing it myself.
