even though Madam and i are no longer in the US, we are still celebrating thanksgiving this year. it is one of Madam’s favorite holidays, and now that Cook is with us, there is no better reason to host a proper feast. this one will be a little different though. Madam has invited a few of her local friends, but since we are still settling in and meeting people, it is going to be a cozy gathering of about seven guests. still, knowing Cook, there will be enough food to feed a small army. i am predicting leftovers for days!

my main job will be assisting Cook in the kitchen. i have become a pretty decent sous chef if i do say so myself. she even gifted me an apron that says “sue” on it. bright pink, frilly, and just a little embarrassing. i love it. i will be chopping, stirring, tasting, and making sure everything is perfect for Madam’s table.

when it is time to serve, i will be bringing each dish out, presenting it with a little flair, and making sure the guests have everything they need. and this year, Madam told me i get to sit right beside her at the table. no kids’ table for duckie!

i am really looking forward to it. it feels good to bring a little bit of home wherever we go and to share that warmth, laughter, and food with new friends in a new country. i think Madam will be proud.
