This was my homework for this weekend, to focus on these words, the phrase, the mantra. Then to report back what I felt it meant to me. Here goes…

Being a submissive I’ve learnt it’s important to remember a couple of things, the first maybe most important being ‘choice’. Be it that we choose to give up control, choose to submit or we choose to use our safe words, and these are not just one-time choices but with every action with every spoken word and indeed every silence. Going beyond these though is making sure what you are doing for others in servitude and submission aligns with who you are your values and who you want to be, don’t act a certain way because it is expected of you, because you are told, but because you want to.

I think it also touches on self-awareness, as to be effective at anything you must take care of yourself first, both body and mind. If either of those aren’t in a good place or have conflict to begin with you cannot fully give yourself to another with openness. Ask, have I met my own needs today before I can try and meet those of others around me?

This could expand with the very task I was given with this piece, in building a routine. Remembering each morning, evening or both. Who you are, who you serve perhaps, what you are going to achieve today. The concept of routine and ritual is something new to me beyond a daily routine, but waking and following a protocol, going to bed and following one. Checking for anything upcoming that I must complete and demonstrate I helps adjust the mind to making the role more real.

I want to make sure that when I’m asked to complete a task, routine, ritual that the actions I perform are completed with genuine intention rather than me just ticking it off like a checklist. From this I hope that each will be more fulfilling and show the true me and not a front or disguise.
