Take Care of Your Eyes

by | Jun 20, 2025 | 2 comments

Your vision is easy to take for granted—until it starts to slip. Eye strain, blurry vision, and headaches can sneak up on you, especially if you spend a lot of time on screens. Schedule an eye exam every 1 to 2 years, even if you think you see fine. If you wear contacts or glasses, keep your prescription up to date. Good eye health helps you follow visual commands, maintain focus, and stay alert during tasks. Serving with clear eyes is part of staying ready.

Thankfully I can say Im on top of this one – I had been awful though.

Keeping in mind I can be in front of a screen anywhere from 12-16 hours a day at times, I went from 2000 – 2024 without an eye test. I went with the view “I can see ok, i must be fine”.

I got them tested last year, my eyes are fine on the whole but it was suggested that i have glasses for the screen usage which i am generally pretty good at following through on they are only a +1 sort of prescription to ease the strain.

But yes, dont take good eye sight for granted, even better if you have an employer that offers free eye tests and/or money towards glasses if needed for work (not sure if they have that US side to?).

    Great reminder though Miss Jessica.

Again, concur totally! Screens are enemy #1. A piece of good news is that a principal reason this is true is because the eyes aren’t being exercised when focused at a single distance – which can be relieved with exercise. Stop every 15 minutes, go outside, and focus on infinity for a few minutes. Make your eyes focus. krissi had the eyes of a fighter pilot -m and didn’t wear corrective lenses – until only a few years ago (we all age). His Dad gave him this book and he made much of it ritual: Sight Without Glasses, Dr. Harold M. Peppard, Blue Ribbon Books, Mar 15, 1940.
The other thing is whole body exercise and general fitness. Cardio-vascular fitness really aids your eyes.
