As excited as I am about the entire new property, I think I’ve already identified what may become my favorite spot in the whole house.

The master bedroom is enormous, far larger than our current one, and one feature immediately captured my attention. Tucked into one corner is a beautiful sitting nook with large windows overlooking the backyard and surrounding property. The natural light is wonderful, and the view is exactly what I hoped for when we started searching for a home with more privacy and land.

The moment I saw it, I knew exactly what I wanted.

I’ve already instructed the boys to set it up properly. I selected a comfortable chair, a small table, and a few other touches to make it feel like a personal retreat. A place where I can start my mornings in peace before the chaos of the day begins.

I can already picture it. A fresh cup of coffee in hand, sunlight streaming through the windows, the dogs wandering the property outside, and one of my boys kneeling, servicing me while I enjoy the quiet start to the day. No rushing. No meetings. No contractors asking questions. Just a few moments where everything is exactly as it should be.

One of the things I wanted most from this move was a home that better reflected the way we actually live. Not just more space, but spaces with purpose. Spaces that feel intentional. This little corner already feels like one of those places.

There is still a tremendous amount of work ahead of us before move-in day. Every week seems to bring another project, another decision, another expense. But when I think about sitting in that nook with my morning coffee, looking out over the property we’ve worked so hard to find, I find myself getting very impatient for summer to arrive.

The boys have their assignments. The contractors have theirs.

Now they just need to hurry up and finish.
