I wish that I could claim with pride
My own submissive trait,
But this assertion I’m denied
By that frustrating state.

One cannot hold his head up high
Who’s heart prefers it bent.
I pray you then tell me how I
Extoll my soul’s descent?

Once chivalry compelled the brave
To bear their Lady’s sign,
Proclaim with pride they were her slave
A state all held divine.

I wish our world acknowledged this:
That love in servitude is bliss.
