When I think about a woman who deserves my gratitude, My Mother comes to mind before anyone else.

What makes her special isn’t one particular thing she has done. It is the way she has quietly been there through so many parts of my life. Even though I now live far away from home, I still feel her presence in the decisions I make and the way I handle difficult moments.

There have been times when things didn’t go the way I expected. I have felt confused, disappointed, or unsure about what to do next. A conversation with my mother has often been enough to help me step back, think clearly, and keep moving. She doesn’t always tell me what I want to hear. She tells me what she thinks I need to hear.

She has also always reminded me to respect women and try to understand things from their perspective. I didn’t always understand the importance of that advice when I was younger, but as I have grown older, I appreciate it much more. It is one of those lessons that quietly stayed with me.

Living far away has made me appreciate the little things I once took for granted. A simple phone call, her asking how I am doing, or her advice during a difficult time means much more when home is thousands of kilometres away.

My mother has been my backbone without ever asking for recognition.

So today, I simply want to say:

Thank you, Mom.

Thank you for your patience, your honesty, your guidance, and for believing in me during the moments when I struggled to believe in myself.

Whatever kind of man I become, I know a part of that person will always come from you.
And for that, I will always be grateful.
