Had the chance to meet up with someone new this week—Roland, who reached out to me through the Magazine. Turns out he’s right here in Portland.

We grabbed beers last night and had a really great conversation. His situation? Let’s just say his wife sounds a lot like Annie… only with even more control. No joke—before Roland and I could head out, his wife had to have a phone call with Annie. The whole thing gave serious “mom-calling-before-a-sleepover” vibes. I teased him about it, and I know he’ll read this—so yeah, sorry, buddy, but it was too perfect not to mention.

That said, it was honestly a blast. We clicked right away. Funny, thoughtful guy, and it felt good to talk with someone who just gets it.

We’re already planning to hang out again soon—maybe go bowling (even though I fully warned him I suck). Looking forward to it! Always cool when the Magazine connects like-minded people.
