One of the things I love most about our new home is the land.
For years, I’ve lived with neighbors close enough that you always had to be aware of who might be looking out a window, walking a dog, or driving past at the wrong moment. Not anymore.
This property gives us something I’ve wanted for a very long time: privacy.
I cannot wait to send my boys outside wearing nothing but their collars and know they can enjoy the fresh air without causing a neighborhood scandal. There is something wonderfully natural about it. The boys carrying firewood. Working in the garden. Cleaning up branches after a storm. Walking the dogs. All of them collared, all naked, all of them under my authority, and all of them able to enjoy the property exactly as I intended.
The dogs are going to love it too. Plenty of room to run, explore, and wear themselves out. Frankly, the boys may enjoy it just as much. I already have visions of assigning outdoor chores and watching them spread across the property working while I sit comfortably with a cup of coffee and supervise.
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that submissive men tend to be happier when they’re useful. Give a boy a rake, a wheelbarrow, a project, and clear instructions, and many of them will work all day with a smile on their face. Now I’ll have plenty of opportunities to put that theory to use.
The property also gives us options for entertaining. Friends can visit without feeling crowded. We can host outdoor gatherings. The dogs can play. The boys can work. And nobody has to worry about peering eyes from the house next door.
The move itself is still going to be a tremendous amount of work. Every time I visit, my list somehow gets longer instead of shorter. But when I stand outside and look across the property, I remember exactly why we’re doing it.
For the first time, it feels like we’re building a place that truly fits the way we live.
