When you’re in a Female-Led Relationship (FLR) and have kids, privacy is everything. That’s why I think it’s so important to have strong locks and, ideally, soundproofing in your space. In our house, we’ve taken it a step further—we have what we call the “fun room.”
It’s essentially a converted bedroom that Cody outfitted with recording-studio-quality soundproofing. But here’s the clever part: he walled off the original door from the hallway and created a private entrance directly from our bedroom. To the kids, it looks like it’s just a closet.
Now, I suppose there’s always the chance they’ll figure it out someday—like, “Wait a minute, where did that square footage go?” But for now, the illusion holds, and it gives Cody and me the perfect space to explore and enjoy our dynamic without any interruptions.
Strong locks and soundproofing: absolute essentials for FLR parents.
