I had a little free time while I was in Los Angeles last month, so I decided to do some shopping.
I was trying on shoes, and the salesman helping me was perfectly polite… and painfully boring. Then, out of nowhere, he disappeared and was replaced by a much younger guy who looked downright excited to be helping me.
The difference was immediate.
Within a minute I could tell exactly why he’d chosen that line of work. He knew how to make a woman feel comfortable, paid attention to every little detail, and somehow managed to turn a simple shoe fitting into a genuinely enjoyable experience. I don’t know how many women notice those things, but I certainly do.
He was charming without being pushy, confident without being arrogant, and very, very attentive. By the time I left, I’d decided he deserved a little reward. I took his number.
I told him that if he proved himself to be a good boy, I’d give him a call the next time I was back in Los Angeles.
The look on his face was priceless.
Will I actually call him? Maybe. Perhaps I’ll allow him to give me a private shoe fitting.
